EDGE ALUMNI
Update September 2006
A.J. Scheidt (Lahser High School) finished a stellar career at The University of Michigan in 2006. The senior captain helped guide the Wolverines to the Big Ten regular season title as well as the Big Ten Tournament title, which launched them into the NCAA Regional in Atlanta. A.J.'s hard work both in the classroom and at The Player's Edge provided him with one of the greatest experiences of his life. Congrats to A.J. on his championships, but more importantly his degree in kinesiology. A.J. is without question the epitomy of success!
Alumni Update
I have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to teach the game of baseball to players of all ages and skill levels. I want to update everyone on the first four kids that I ever trained. These four kids are the epitome of success through hard work and perseverance.
The first kid was Steven Antoniotti. He just finished his freshman year in 2005 at Miami, (OH) University. His Miami team won the MAC Championship and participated in the NCAA tournament. Steven went to Brother Rice High School.
The second kid was Kevin Littleton. He just finished his sophomore year at Yale University where he plays football. He was the first to take advantage of my Good Grades Program. Kevin had this to say:
"Chris Newell and The Player's Edge taught me the importance of hard work in the classroom and on the field. Obviously, not everyone will become a pro baseball player, but with the work ethic Chris instills in players, they will not only improve on the field, but most importantly in the classroom and as people. I was able to apply lessons learned from Chris in school and in other sports, helping me to become a Yale University football player."
Kevin went to Detroit Country Day School.
The third kid was Brian Chapman. He just finished his sophomore year at Penn State University where he is majoring in Broadcast Communication. As a freshman, he had his own radio show once a week to discuss P.S.U. athletics. He still has the show on campus at least once a week. Brian is now doing an internship with WXYT-Team 1270 AM with Art Regner and Doug Karsch. Brian went to Detroit Country Day School.
The fourth kid was Justin Prinstein. He just finished his junior year at George Washington University (Please see quote under testimonials). Justin started his college baseball at Albion College and transferred to G.W.U. in the fall. He helped lead the Colonials to the Antlantic 10 Conference Tournament. Justin's story is very gratifying to me. When he was a young high schooler, he was very undersized, just like myself.
Because of his love for the game, work ethic, and perseverance , I was immediately drawn to him. He barely made his Freshman, J.V., and Varsity teams and struggled to get playing time. He would ask me all the time if I thought he was good enough to play past high school, because his coaches always said not even if a miracle happened. But nothing stopped him. In fact, he probably spent more time at The Player's Edge than I did. I have to admit I always felt that he was talented enough to play at a division II or III school, but not Division I. Well, he certainly proved me wrong, just like he did everyone else. George Washington University is one of the top conferences in the country in Division I. Justin went to North Farmington High School.
It's stories like these that make coaching or teaching the best profession in the world. These kids will tell you that I'm a big reason for their success, but I'm here to tell you that THEY are the reason why I wake up everyday to help your son or daughter. I have many more success stories, so please feel free to ask me about them anytime because there is a chance that your child will be one of them.
Sincerely,
Chris Newell
